Abstract. In the case of deep sea mining discharges the overall aim of numerical modelling is to provide tools which allow extrapolation and evaluation of the experimental results in order to formulate an environmental impact statement. The report critically reviews the presently available experimental data resulting from various tests and experiments connected with the ocean mining research from the point of view of their feasibility in verification and supporting of the hydrodynamical models developed and applied to assess some of the deep sea mining impacts.
